Movin’ & Groovin’ Monday: Katrina And The Waves

Welcome to a new series: “Movin’ and Groovin’ Monday.”  Each week you will find a snappy little video that will get you up and moving. Here is the link to last week’s video and post which inspired me to create this series.  Get ready for a “religious” experience of the 60’s kind.

Grieving? Don’t Make This Mistake

During my first year of widowhood, I spent most weekends on the couch so I had enough energy to get through the next work week.  That was a mistake. While rest is necessary so is moving.  I would put a load of laundry in the washer and it would take me 3 hours to get up enough energy and desire to go put it in the dryer. Even if you dance only 5 minutes a day – DANCE! You will feel better. Then dance a little more each day and eventually you will be “Walking On Sunshine.”

In Transition? Don’t Make This Mistake

The one thing us job seekers are good at doing is negative self talk (a.k.a NST). I know it is easier to say quit doing it than it is to do it. Just when you get the NST eliminated, friends or family step in and bombard you with negative comments or ask you all sorts of questions about your job search.

So to you my fellow job seekers I say, listen to the up tempo music and “shake your groove thing.” It will help keep the NST down. Play an uptempo cd on your way to an interview to fill your mind with positive thoughts. When you get out of your car – strike a power pose and tell yourself “I WILL rock this interview.” Remember, you too will soon be “Walking On Sunshine.”

Here is this weeks video – enjoy! May you walk on sunshine all week.

Weekend Wisdom: Biblical Strength

The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.

Psalm 29:11

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalm 73:26

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.

1 Thessalonians 3:13

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

2 Thessalonians 3:3

If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:11

Weekend Wisdom: Strength

The sun shines not on us but in us.

John Muir

You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.

Marcus Aurelius

Look well into thyself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if thou wilt always look.

Marcus Aurelius

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Some of us think holding on makes us strong; but sometimes it is letting go.

Hermann Hesse

Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.

Napoleon Hill
