Weekend Wisdom: 4th of July

Great quotes from quotegarden.com to celebrate the 4th of July.

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.

Thomas Paine

This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.

Elmer Davis

Let freedom never perish in your hands.

Joseph Addison

Freedom’s natal day is here.
Fire the guns and shout for freedom,
See the flag above unfurled!
Hail the stars and stripes forever,
Dearest flag in all the world.

Florence A. Jones

This, then, is the state of the union:  free and restless, growing and full of hope.  So it was in the beginning.  So it shall always be, while God is willing, and we are strong enough to keep the faith.

Lyndon B. Johnson

Historical Weekend Wisdom For January

History was my best subject in school.  I found past events and people fascinating because there was so  much to learn about and from them.

So in honor of Inauguration Day on the 20th of this month, Weekend Wisdom will be quotes from famous people.  I had a lot of fun researching quotes and hope you enjoy the weekend history lessons.

Special Announcement

On Sunday, January 13th there will be no Historical Weekend Wisdom but instead there will be a Slideshow celebrating JoyReturns 2nd Blogoversary.

“Let’s Get It Started”

Without further adieu, here is Thomas Paine to  kick off Historical Weekend Wisdom.

“It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government.”

Thomas Paine

“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.”

Thomas Paine

“The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind. Where, some say, is the king of America?

I’ll tell you, friend, He reigns above.”

Thomas Paine
