{Day 29} Spiritual Prepping – Pray

Praying for someone is the best thing you can do for them. Do it from the comfort of your home, while walking or doing a prayer drive. Considering Sunday is Halloween, a prayer drive around your community praying for God to build up the walls against spiritual warfare is an excellent idea.

Brother Love

Praying continually means making prayer a regular part of your life, like the praying mantis. There are other faiths that pray at regularly schedule intervals but I bet most Christians don’t pray even when they rise or when they go to bed.

We Christians have a tendency to just sit back and relax and think “God’s got this, I don’t need to pray.” Yes, we do need to pray continually throughout the day.

I do pray for my customers during the day. Sometimes it might be a simple “Bless Her/Him, Lord.” Other times it is a quickie prayer for a specific need they happen to mention during our conversation.

Find times to pray more (waking, breakfast, lunch, dinner, bedtime). Go on prayer walks or zoom around your city. You never know who God will work and He WILL work, just keep your eyes and ears open.

{Day 28} Spiritual Prepping – Joyful

Now that you have laid down and slept in God’s safety, it is time to get up and…

Let joy be the defining trait of your character. Let joyful be the first-word people use to describe you before they use words like honest, hard-working, and generous – among others.

Be joyful because Jesus Christ died to set you free from sin so you have life everlasting. If that does not make you joyful, I do not know what will.

Then scatter your joy to the people in your little piece of God’s world. How?

Just smile. You can send flowers if you want to as well. But when you are out and about running errands, just smile at the people you see along the way. Your smile just might make someone’s day.

Party On!

I also associate being joyful with celebrating life. Whether it is big events like job promotions or little things like the first dandelion or the first leaf changing color. We get so wrapped up in the hubbub of life we don’t stop and celebrate the little things or even small accomplishments.

Now we shall see if I take my own advice as work put more responsibility on me and my teammates. The additional duties start on Sunday.

I will also figure out a way to incorporate more celebrations on JoyReturns for next year.

So start being joyful, living joyful, and celebrating joyfully even in the hard times.

{Day 27} Spiritual Prepping: Safety

Lookie who’s posting earlier today.

Today’s verse is one I fell in love with immediately upon reading a devotion several years ago. I’ve gotten into the habit of saying this verse as I crawl into bed and thank the Lord for the day. I trust Him to keep me safe during the night. He has and holds me, and I have and hold Him.

Remember in better or worse times, in the rich and the poor times, in times of sickness and health, God loves and cherishes you and is the only one who can keep you safe as you sleep.

So, will you have and hold Him from this day forward?
