52 Bible Verses for a Joy Filled Year – Week 25

Happy Father’s Day!

There will no celebration with my biological father or step-father today since they both reside in heaven. However, I will honor and celebrate my heavenly father because He is my Father and chose my 2 earthly fathers for me.

Whether or not you are a father to human or fur kids, enjoy your special day and find rest in God today and everyday.

May we all find rest and hope in our heavenly Father this week and forevermore.

Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
    my hope comes from him.

Psalm 62:5

Coming tomorrow an update on my turning my life around before 6/19/2018.

Weekend Wisdom: Soul

Good for the body is the work of the body, good for the soul the work of the soul, and good for either the work of the other.

Henry David Thoreau

The windows of my soul I throw
Wide open to the sun.

John Greenleaf Whittier, My Psalm

A sensible man will remember that the eyes may be confused in two ways – by a change from light to darkness or from darkness to light; and he will recognize that the same thing happens to the soul.

With all your science – can you tell how it is, and whence it is, that light comes into the soul?

Henry David Thoreau

The soul, like the body, lives by what it feeds on.

Flowers For Hump Day

There will be a post tomorrow, in the meantime enjoy these flower quotes I found on quotegarden.com. After all who does not need a few flowers to brighten up hump day?

Flowers don’t worry about how the’re going to bloom.  They just open up and turn toward the light and that makes them beautiful.

~Jim Carrey

Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature.

~Gerard de Nerval

The flower that follows the sun does so even in cloudy days.

Weekend Wisdom: Longing & Spiritual Growth

May I never be satisfied with my present spiritual progress,

but to faith add virtue, knowledge, temperance, godliness, brotherly kindness, charity.

From the “Spiritual Growth ” prayer

“The Valley of Vision,  a collection of   Puritan Prayers  & Devotions” by Arthur Bennett

Lord, give me more of thy likeness;

Enlarge my soul to contain fullness of holiness;

Engage me to live more for thee.

Weekend Wisdom: “The Valley of Vision”

Weekend Wisdom for April will feature quotes from different prayers in the book “The Valley of Vision, A collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions” by Arthur Bennett.     (Here is a link to the Wikipedia page about Puritans.)

Today’s wisdom comes from the prayer “The Valley of Vision.”  I am publishing this prayer in it’s entirety and can honestly say from experience, the best vision can be found in the valley.

The Valley of Vision

Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision,

where I live in the depths but see thee in the heights;

hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold thy glory.

Let me learn by paradox

that the way down is the way up,

that to be low is to be high,

that the broken heart is the healed heart,

that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit,

that the repenting soul is the victorious soul,

that to have nothing is to possess all,

that to bear the cross is to wear the crown,

that to give is to receive,

that the valley is the place of vision.

Lord, in the daytime starts can be seen from deepest wells,

and the deeper the wells the brighter thy stars shine;

Let me find thy light in my darkness,

thy life in my death,

thy joy in my sorrow,

thy grace in my sin,

thy riches in my poverty

thy glory in my valley.
