Weekend Wisdom: Confidence

Whether you are a widow, a job seeker, or a widowed job seeker (been there, done that, it stinks!), confidence can be in short supply every now and then.  So I did some research and found some good confidence quotes.  I pray at least one of them will speak to you.

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

Eleanor Roosevelt, You Learn by Living: Eleven Keys for a More Fulfilling Life

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined.”

Henry David Thoreau

“Your greatness is revealed not by the lights that shine upon you, but by the light that shines within you.”

Ray Davis

“Confidence is going after Moby Dick in a rowboat and taking the tartar sauce with you.”

Zig Ziglar

If I have lost confidence in myself, I have the universe against me.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

May you be joyfully blessed with an abundance of confidence…and tartar sauce!           😀

Weekend Wisdom: Bohemian Revolution Edition

Welcome to the Bohemian Revolution edition of Weekend Wisdom!  Today’s post is inspired by the movie “Moulin Rouge!” (2001) staring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.

McGregor portrays an English writer who moves to Paris in 1899 to join the Bohemian Revolution.  He meets some revolutionaries and writes a show encompassing the revolutions’ ideals – Truth, Beauty, Freedom, and Love.  Kidman is the star and courtesan at the Moulin Rouge where the show (“Spectacular, Spectacular”) will be performed.

The quote about love was used in the movie.  The other quotes are ones I felt fit the theme.

There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.

The revelation of thought takes men out of servitude into freedom.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.”

From the song “Nature Boy” by Eden Ahbez

Weekend Wisdom From Ralph

Happy Sunday!

Sorry I missed posting yesterday.

Here are some quotes from one of my new loves – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

It is not length of life, but depth of life.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

All I have seen teaches me to trust the creator for all I have not seen.
