Weekend Wisdom: It Will Move

Jesus uttered today’s Weekend Wisdom to his disciples after they could not heal the demon possessed boy – talk about poor customer service! Then the father escalated the situation up to the man he knew could cast out the demon harming his son.

After casting out the demon, Jesus told His disciples in private why they could not cast out the demon.

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Jesus Christ
Matthew 17:20
New International Version
(NIV)

So what mountains in your life have you not been able to move?

In the book Draw the Circle, The 40 Day Prayer Challenge, author Mark Batterson reminds us to speak to the mountain about our God. (Day 14)

After all, it took only one little stone from David’s slingshot to take out the “mountain” Goliath who used fear to keep the Israelites shaking in their boots. David had faith in his God and told Goliath

“You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” 1 Samuel 17:45 (NIV)

Imagine the mountains you will move after developing faith the size of a mustard seed.

52 Bible Verses for a Joy Filled Year – Week 41

Wow! Week 41 already. Hopefully these verses have helped you find more joy and peace as you see how God is working in your life. I have been feeling especially peaceful the past week, not sure why. I keep telling myself to trust the feeling and don’t be convinced that the other shoe is going to drop.

So here is this week’s verse. It is a verse I’ve focused on before and need to focus on again as what thought was an anthill is now a mountain.

This picture of Galveston Bay was taken in 2009 when I was there for a wedding.

Where Do We Begin?

To everyonewho is living through extended unemployment and feels down and out, this quote is for you:

“If you wish to reach the highest, begin at the lowest.”

Publilius Syrus

Been There, Done That

I was at my lowest upon becoming a widow and worked my way baby-step by baby-step to the highest.

Now I am back at my lowest, working through an extended unemployment journey.  I will reach my highest once again.

Since I did it once and will do it again, so can you.

This Weekend

So my dear friends spend this weekend resting and enjoying the view, where ever you are on the unemployment mountain.  Then on Monday, start moving forward towards your highest – one baby-step at a time.

Publilius (less correctly Publius) Syrus, a Latin writer of maxims, flourished in the 1st century BC. He was a Syrian who was brought as a slave to Italy, but by his wit and talent he won the favor of his master, who freed and educated him.  (Biographical Information courtesy of Wikipedia)
