Weekend Wisdom: Wait For One Another

The Bible verse for today is

Wait for each other

1 Corinthians 11:33

Waiting for one another requires patience. So with that in mind, here are some quotes about waiting and patience.

Quotes About Waiting

Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity.

Henry Van Dyke

Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come.

Robert H. Schuller

A healthy attitude is contagious but don’t wait to catch it from others. Be a carrier.

Tom Stoppard

Adopt the pace of nature:  her secret is patience.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Love is patient.

1 Corinthians 13:4

Be patient with everyone.

1 Thessalonians 5:14

Bear with one another in love.

Ephesians 4:2

Weekend Wisdom

The Official Hymn of JoyReturns

Scripture:

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Psalm 90:14

I end this brief series on hymns with the official hymn of this blog.  This hymn is based on Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (one of my favorite pieces of classical music), and contains the word joyful so it had to be designated the official hymn of JoyReturns.  Besides, Beethoven and I are BFF’s.  I have always adored his music.

Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee

Joyful, joyful, we adore thee,

God of glory, Lord of love;

hearts unfold like flowers before thee,

opening to the sun above.

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;

drive the dark of doubt away.

Giver of immortal gladness,

fill us with the light of day!

All thy works with joy surround thee,

earth and heaven reflect thy rays,

stars and angels sing around thee,

center of unbroken praise.

Field and forest, vale and mountain,

flowery meadow, flashing sea,

chanting bird and flowing fountain,

call us to rejoice in thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving,

ever blessing, ever blest,

well-spring of the joy of living,

ocean depth of happy rest!

Thou our Father, Christ our brother,

all who live in love are thine;

teach us how to love each other,

lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the mighty chorus

which the morning stars began;

love divine is reigning o’er us,

binding all within its span.

Ever singing, march we onward,

victors in the midst of strife;

joyful music leads us sunward,

in the triumph song of life.
