Scripture:
“Now these things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you and that your joy may be full.”
Looking back, 2011 has been a year of joy. I will admit sometimes I had to look for joy but it was always there. The following are the 5+1 reasons 2011 was filled with joy.
Gourmet Food
I became a Tastefully Simple Independent Consultant. As a result, I have met some wonderful people and look forward to 2012 when we will work together more. Plus I got in just in time to stock up on the Cool and Creamy Cucumber Dip before it went back into hibernation.
Jackpot!
I was part of a team that secured silent auction donations for a fundraiser. The event raised over $36,000.00 for golden retrievers, $6,000 more than normal. Now if that is not worth 2 barks, I do not know what is.
“Celebrate Good Times”
I gave my first public speech. It was at Dad’s Celebration of Life Service. It was a little un-nerving as I had never given a eulogy. However as a member of the high school speech team, I did impromptu and extemporaneous speaking competitions. So if I can get up and intelligently speak on a news event after only 30 seconds to 30 minutes preparation time, I can do a speech under these circumstances. It gave me great joy and pleasure to share memories with those who attended.
Moving Home
My Step-Mom (A.K.A. Mom # 2) and Dad moved to heaven. Both were not well at the time of their passing. Both are healthy, young, spry and enjoying seeing each other again. Now that is a joyous occasion.
One More Time
I got Dad to one more family reunion before his passing 17 days later. This was the reunion on Mom’s side. He had not been to one in 32 years. He had a great time and the relatives enjoyed seeing him again.
Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone
I became a blogger. It is hard to describe how this blog has affected me. I was scared because I read Chris Brogan, Seth Godin, JT O’Donnell and Jeff Nischwitz and thought “My writing skills are not as polished and professional as theirs, I must be nuts to think I can do this – especially given my niche.” But I did it and I do not have one second’s regret.
I met many wonderful people from numerous countries. Our path’s would not have crossed if it were not for JoyReturns.
It brought back my Christmas Joy. This was the first season I was really excited about Christmas. I even did decorating. The excitement was due to putting together this “40 Days of Joy” series. I got pumped just thinking at what I could write that might bring joy to someone grieving or just beat up due to the holiday chaos.
“So Long, Farewell”
Even though 2011 was joy filled, I am ready to bid adieu to it and take on 2012. As the former WWE wrestler “The Rock” would say:
“Just Bring It.”
Quote:
“We could never learn to be brave and patient if there were only joy in the world”
Helen Keller
Coming tomorrow – It’s NOT Just Another New Year’s Eve – Sorry Barry.
Thank You For Scattering Joy
