Weekend Wisdom

Figs, Grapes and Olives

Whatever happens in life, make a commitment to be joyful in God our Savior. He is with us every step of the way no matter how steep the mountains or how low the valley.

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.”

Weekend Wisdom: Bible Verse for 2016

Last year God pressed the following verse on my heart.

Behold, I am doing a new thing;
    now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
    and rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 43:19

2016

Now that 2016 is here it is time to:

“Remember not the former things,
    nor consider the things of old.

Isaiah 43:18

So without further adieu here are my 2016 verses:

Habakkuk Rejoices in the Lord

17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
    nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
    and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
    and there be no herd in the stalls,

18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
    I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
    he makes my feet like the deer’s;
    he makes me tread on my high places.

Habakkuk 3:17-19

I’ve always loved this verse but when it was read at church service a few weeks ago, I thought to myself “You need to make that verse the one for 2016.”

May you rejoice in God throughout 2016, as He is your strength.

Weekend Wisdom: Biblical Confidence

Here are a few Biblical quotes to boost your confidence. May at least one of these help you through your week.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

Philippians 4:13

 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:6

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

17 Though the fig tree does not bud
    and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
    and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
    and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
    I will be joyful in God my Savior.

19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.

Habakkuk 3:17-19
