31 Days of Joy: Day 11 – Joy At Sunset

My 48 hour work week is done. (cue Mr. Handel – Hal-le-lu-jah! Hal-le-lu-jah!)

I was outside watching the sun set through the trees in the woods behind my house. The sky is a beautiful shade of light blue with white and thin, dark grey clouds highlighted by the setting sun.

Then from out of the north comes this high-pitched chirping sound and a flock of little, black birds flying south. Not sure what type of birds they are – or are these speed racers of the sky vampire bats? Good thing I have a scarf around my neck.         😉

Now the clouds have turned a brilliant orange color.  Must. grab. my. camera.

What a way to spend the end of a long work week – out on the deck enjoying a beautiful autumn sunset.

Thank you God for the energy to get through the week and for tonights colorful sunset.

31 Days of Joy: Day 9 – Another Blogging Milestone!

Wow! 2 blogging milestones in one week. Wahoo!

First there was Monday’s 1,000th post on this blog and today WordPress notifies me that my “31 Days of Autumn in Ohio: Day 9 – Blood Moon”, is my 100th post on Ogleohio (my photography blog).

It’s the perfect pick me up for a Thursday of a 48 hour work week. Now there will be an extra spring in my step today.

Of course the “Blood Moon” photo would not be possible if it were not for God, as He created it.

He created me with the eye to see pictures everywhere I look.  My mind frames numerous pictures whenever and wherever I drive. It’s how my brain is wired – to look at things from different angles and viewpoints.

A former supervisor recognized that skill in me. She knew whatever problem I brought to her, I had a developed a solution based on my considering the different angles of the situation.

Thank you God for my “eye” for photography, for seeing situations from multiple viewpoints and for the milestones reached this week on both JoyReturns and OgleOhio.

Soli Deo gloria – glory to God alone!

31 Days of Joy: Day 4 – Joy in Rest

It is 9:01 a.m. as I write this post.  I have been up 36 minutes.

There was no alarm clock singing its shrill song this morning, for I am not working today. (Cue Mr. Handel – Hal-le-lu-jah!, Hal-le-lu-jah!)

I woke up at 6 and promptly rolled over and fell back into a deep, restful sleep.  Every now and then I would here Rommie come into my bedroom attempting to get me out of bed, but I felt called to asleep. I could not have gotten up even if I wanted. It is as if the hand of God was holding me down, telling me to sleep.

I felt very relaxed, warm and cozy. The warmth was probably from the sun streaming through the eastern window. God knew I needed the sleep as my monkey brain was in overdrive this week chattering about the household chores, errands, and job search activities that need done. God used this restorative sleep to shut the monkey up.

Plus God knows this next week is a 48 hour work week and I need to store up the energy for it.

Thanks for the deep, relaxing sleep God. I felt very loved by and connected to you.

Now this very rested and restored blogger is off to eat her Scottish Oatmeal with 2 tablespoons ground flax-seed meal with a pinch of organic honey swirled in. Then it is off to the dry cleaners as the interview suit needs cleaned.

May you experience joy in a deep, relaxing sleep in God’s arms today.
