“Stars In The Night”

After the events of this week, I felt it was important to end the work week with a positive uplifting post.  So I went through numerous books looking for the right inspirational piece but nothing spoke to me.

I did keep hearing a song in my head and decided I would share them with you.   The lyrics are about hope in the dark of night.  We all need reminded once in a while that there is hope.

Have a blessed weekend.

Stars In The Night/Barry Manilow

Look
Look at the stars
How brilliant they are
How can they be shining now
When hope seems so far?

Look
Look how they shine
These cruelest of stars
What promise inspires them?
What faith is it fires them?

Darkness grows
The world turns cold
And still there glows the light
Heaven knows
What hope they hold tonight

Look
Look how they tease
These stars in the night
The darker the night becomes
The brighter their light becomes

Chill winds wail
The tempest brews
And clouds assail the sky
Through the veil
The stars refuse to die!

In this world
Of darkest night
Where hope is hurled away
There they are
And still there’s light
Oh so far
But will they…?
Dare they lift our hearts
As we lift our eyes
Are we fools to see
The hope that’s gleaming in the skies?
Look!
There’s the light!
Stars in the night!

United We Stand?

There is so much hatred and animosity towards one another now-a-days.  People are so irritable and cranky.  When did we get to be like this?  Was it when the economy went into recession?  Why must we be so divided?

Why must it be:

  • Atheists vs Christians
  • Republican against Democrat
  • Homosexual against Heterosexual
  • Neighbor vs. Neighbor and on and on and on and on and on…

I remember the song “United We Stand” by Brotherhood of Man.  Click on the link and really listen with your heart.  Listen how effortlessly they are united when singing.  Why are we not able to achieve the same effortless unity today with our fellow citizens?

Some might say this song is too schmaltzy.  Well, I believe this country needs a HUGE dose of schmaltz right now.  Whether it is from Brotherhood of Man, Barry Manilow, or the Partridge Family.

So come on get united and get happy!

“Something’s Comin’ Up”

Ugh!  I am still on edge and have been for the past week.  Not sure what is going on but I sure would like some big, strong arms wrapped around me right now.  I need to find a way to calm my nerves and soothe away the stress.

There definitely is something in the air, just not sure if it is good or bad.

So keep checking back and I will let you know what happens this week.

The way I feel reminds me of a Barry Manilow song “Something’s Coming Up”

Take it away Barry…

Did you ever feel somethin’ in the air
And you block it out, but you know it’s there
Did you ever find, things about to change
I can see the signs all along my way
And I can feel that

Something’s comin’ up
And I don’t know what it is
Something’s comin’ up
And I don’t know where it’s gonna take me

But there’s something dyin’
Something bein’ born
I think I’m gonna leave, I gotta get away
Maybe try Mill Valley, maybe try L.A.

The people I thought I loved
Well, we don’t think the same

There’s fury in my blood
And I can’t stand it one more day
And I can feel that

Something’s comin’ up
And I don’t know what it is
Something’s comin’ up
And I don’t know where it’s gonna take me
But there’s something dyin’
And something bein’ born

Something’s comin’ up (comin’ up)
Something’s comin’ up (comin’ up)
Something’s comin’ up (really don’t know what it is)
Something’s comin’ up (really don’t know what it is)

“Trying To Get The Feelin’ Again” (Job Search)

Maybe it is because Joe’s anniversary is just days away, or something else but I have lost the feeling for job searching.  Guess I need to be listening to my motivational cd’s, nah – I doubt those will help.  I know the speaker and it is a good thing he is out of state.  Odds are he is too busy to read this post.  If he did read it, I would get a “nasty” email.     😉

So I will now turn this post over to Barry.   Enjoy!

“Trying To Get The Feelin’ Again”

Doctor, my woman is comin’ back home late today
Could ya’ maybe give me something?
‘Cause the feelin’ is gone and
I must get it back right away
Before she sees that I’ve been

Up, down, tryin’ to get the feelin’ again
All around…. tryin’ to get the feelin’ again
The one that made me shiver,
Made my knees start to quiver
Every time she walked in
And I’ve looked high, low,
Everywhere I possibly can
But there’s no tryin’ to get the feelin’ again
It seemed to disappear as fast as it came

Where did it run to?
I thought I’d done all that I could
Just to keep the lovelight burnin’
But whatever I’ve done
I guess I just haven’t done it too good
‘Cause all that’s left is yearnin’

I been up, down, tryin’ to get the feelin’ again
All around tryin’ to get the feelin’ again
The one that made me shiver,
Made my knees start to quiver
Every time she walked in

And I’ve looked high, and low and everywhere I possibly can
But there’s no tryin’ to get the feelin’ again
It seemed to disappear as fast as it came

And I’ve been lookin’, I’ve been lookin’, I’ve been lookin’
I’ve been up, and down and tryin’ to get the feelin’
I’ve been up, I’ve been down, I’ve been tryin’ to get
I’ve been tryin’, I’ve been tryin’, I’ve been tryin’
To get the feeling

I’ve been tryin’ to get the feeling again
I want to get that feelin’
I’m going to get that feelin’
I got to get that feelin’
I got to get that feelin’
And again, and again, and again, and again
Tryin’ to get that feeling
I’ve been tryin’ to get the feelin’ again

It’s NOT Just Another New Year’s Eve – Sorry Barry

12/31/2008

“It’s just another New Year’s Eve,
Another night like all the rest.”

New Years Eve – 2008 was not like all the rest and yes it was the worst I had experienced.  I did manage to get through it but it was tough.

Normally Joe and I would have a glass or two of champagne at midnight drinking out of monogrammed glasses I got us the first Christmas we were married.

Not this year.

There would be no popping the cork outside on the deck, no clinking the glasses, wishing each other a Happy New Year, and no kiss.

I felt so lonely and there was no joy in the house that night.

Dick Clark and I are usually together on New Year’s Eve.  It was even tradition for Joe and I to watch him.  However, there was no Dick Clark in 2008 as Rommie and I were in bed by 10 p.m.

12/31/2011

“It’s just another New Year’s Eve,
Let’s make it the best.”

Yes, Rommie and I will make tonight the best one yet.  There will be JT’s bean dip with pita chips for an appetizer, something cooked on my new George Foreman grill, and Easy Heath Bars for dessert.

We will be with Dick again tonight as he celebrates his 40th “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.”  It still is not just another New Year’s Eve and never will be again.  Because tonight is another reminder that the world is made for couples and I am no longer part of a couple.  Thank God this night only comes once a year.  That fact brings me great joy.

Grieving?

If you are grieving the loss of a spouse this year, hang in there. You will get through it.  Go to bed early if you want. I know it is painful but you have made it this far, it is just a couple more days till January 3rd when the world will be back to normal.  Then you can breathe a sigh of relief that the holidays are over and remember, just as the song says:

“But when we’re through this New Year
You’ll see, WE’LL be just fine.”

You and I will be just fine.  Let that fact bring you joy tonight and tomorrow.

“It’s Just Another New Year’s Eve”

Don’t look so sad, it’s not so bad you know.
It’s just another night, that’s all it is,
It’s not the first, it’s not the worst you know,
We’ve come through all the rest, we’ll get through this.

We’ve made mistakes, but we’ve made good friends too.
Remember all the nights we spent with them?
And all our plans, who says they can’t come true?
Tonight’s another chance to start again.

REFRAIN
It’s just another New Year’s Eve,
Another night like all the rest.
It’s just another New Year’s Eve,
Let’s make it the best.
It’s just another New Year’s Eve,
It’s just another Auld Lang Syne,
But when we’re through this New Year
You’ll see, WE’LL be just fine.

We’re not alone, we’ve got the world you know.
And it won’t let us down, just wait and see.
And we’ll grow old, but think how wise we’ll grow.
There’s more you know, it’s only New Year’s Eve.

REPEAT REFRAIN

Coming tomorrow – A New Year’s card from Michele and Rommie

“I’m Here To Inform You…”

Take it from me

Everything’s gonna be all right

You wait and see

Everything’s gonna be all right

I can see the future

Starin’ right at me

I’m here to inform you

I like what I see

My Future

Well I can see the future and it consists of many blank pages to write on – and I like that!

I can and will write anything on my pages future with God’s help and guidance.  (Philippians 3:14)

Me Vs. God

Now what I intend on writing and what God intends on me writing, could be 2 different things.  If so, he will let me know.  If he does, then for better or worse I will adjust.

Glory, Glory, Hallejulah!

For the first time in a long time, I am feeling as though I will do more than survive the rest of my life – I will flourish!

Who is willing to come along with me and God for the ride?  I guarantee you will “Have the time of your life.”

All aboard!

Your Future

I can see your future too.  It also contains numerous blank pages.   So what are God and you going to write?

I’m so excited about your future the suspense has me on the edge of my seat.

(Coming tomorrow: Just in time for Thanksgiving – a preview of a recipe post from “40 Days Of Joy”)
