Weekend Wisdom: What God Gave Us

Here are scriptures to help you deal with the panic that is gripping our country.

Yes, we were given self-control. That is why people are buying up toilet paper.

Am I panicked over this situation – no.

I am living my life as normal, getting up stumbling across the hall and working my virtual logistics job, walking across the yard to get the mail, and going to the grocery store and the drug store.

All will be well because even though the Corona virus is in the air – God is STILL on the throne.

He’s got this.

He knew about COVID-19 and all the other germs, bacteria and viruses before He created the heavens and earth.

So stay calm and remember what Jesus (God the Son) said:

33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

Yes indeed, He overcame the world by dying on the cross and rising from the grave 3 days later.

There is no need to panic, just take appropriate precautions…and quit hoarding the toilet paper.

Now I am off to the grocery store.

52 Bible Verses

52 Bible Verses for a Joy Filled Year – Week 14

Thank God it’s Sunday again. Hell week is over. The last week of March is brutal because it is the anniversary of Joe’s passing.

Couple that with still being unemployed and no income because unemployment ended, and being stabbed in the back twice by people who know my situation and refuse to assist and there is fear, frustration, anger and rage in my house. I realize it needs to be gone.

Instead of one verse to meditate on, I’ve used two in this post and linked to one more. The first verse is the one I chose and the second one is from Norman Vincent Peale’s 52 Weeks to a Positive Life card series.

So it is the start of a new day, week and month which means time for new beginnings, which will hopefully calm the fear. New beginnings spring up just when you lease expect them, mostly because our eyes are blind to seeing them. We are dwelling on the past.

“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.

Isaiah 43:18-19

Prayer

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

Dear Holy, Gracious and Loving Heavenly Father,

We humbly and gratefully come before you today with praise and thanksgiving for your love, graciousness and your mercies being new this morning as they were yesterday morning and as they will be tomorrow morning. Thank you for every day being a new beginning.

Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross, a death we deserve because of our sin.

Holy Spirit I ask that you work mightily in our lives. Give us a spirit of power, love and self-control this week as we go about our lives. Let others see the fruit of your work in us every day.

Prevent us from dwelling on the past, give us eyes to see the new beginnings and the courage to seize the opportunities they represent. For you will bring us out of the wilderness by making streams in our desert.

In Jesus’ holy and precious name I do pray –

Amen

Weekend Wisdom: Biblical Confidence

Here are a few Biblical quotes to boost your confidence. May at least one of these help you through your week.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

Philippians 4:13

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:6

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.
