I think of joy as happiness on steroids, caffeine, or some other stimulant that ramps up happiness but also mixes in a good dose of peace and calmness.
Then I read Kay Warren’s book Choose Joy Because Happiness Isn’t Enough. The definition in her book is:
“Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be alright, and the determined choice to praise God in all things.”
Well said Kay – thank you.
That is the definition I am now applying to my life. Yes, there will be times when I fail but I am not perfect.
It is not easy living by this definition in our fallen world, but then nothing worthwhile comes easy.
And living a life of joy is definitely worthwhile.
Won’t you join me and Kay and apply this definition to your life?
