Widows – Declare Your Independence!

Does it feel like you’ve been in a war with the grief monster ever since your spouse passed away and left you alone?

Well of course it does.

However, you live in the United States of America.

You live in the best country for widows to move forward with life. You have freedom and opportunities women in other countries are are not afforded. Opportunities for a better life are all around you and if you do not see opportunities – then create them.

But first you have to declare your independence from the grief monster.

You are going to have to fight a war in order to declare your independence from the grief monster’s tyrannical grip. You will win some battles and you will lose some battles. But this war must be fought and with God fighting for you, you will be victorious!

So widows, declare your independence from the grief monster and shoot off your own fireworks as you move pursue your American Dream.

We are a light and what better way to shine your light than with fireworks.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden

Matthew 5:14

Your Assignment For July

Welcome July.

Hope all is well with you and your family, my dear readers.

Here is the verse of the day from the YouVersion Bible app. I thought it would be a good thing for us to practice this verse this month.

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4:16 ESV

Have a joy-filled day and God Bless You.

(P.S. I will be here more this month.)

Preparing for Life In My Backyard

Cleanup and decorating work began on my deck last weekend in addition to walking around the yard and surveying God’s handiwork. Here are some pictures.

This year I hung Boston ferns for the first time in at least 5 years. I think the fern at the other end of the deck has been confiscated by a robin for her nest. These ferns will be left outside all winter to provide winter interest and I may get some outdoor fairy lights for them as well.

The peonies are getting ready to bloom. Yeah! Love my peonies from mom’s yard. Just wish she had not ripped out all the Lily of the Valley flowers as I would have planted those as well.

This bushy thing in the woods has gotten taller. It never covered up that much of the tree before.

The black walnut tree finally bloomed. Did not think it was going to this year. All the black walnuts in the woods appeared to be dead until about 1 week ago but now they are alive and well.

The gully (a.k.a. The River Kearns) is 90 percent dry and my yard man was able to mow it last week. When we get a lot more rain than what the big drain in my neighbors fence can handle, the gully fills with water and becomes The River Kearns.

My wicker planter was put back into use this year. This arrangement of red, purple and orange flowers called my name when purchasing the ferns.

More work will be done this weekend as I prepare the deck to be an even more relaxing and enjoyable summer place.

Hopefully you are able to make a nice place to enjoy the outdoors.
