The other night found myself writing after waking up around 1 am-ish. I checked my phone to see if there were any missed calls. There were none, but one of my apps notified me that shots were fired in another city.
Then I crawled back in bed and prayed no one was injured or killed and that the police would find who fired the shots. Today’s verse popped into my head while bemoaning to God about society falling apart.

24 There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God, 25 for apart from him who can eat or who can have enjoyment?
Ecclesiastes 2:24-25 (ESV)
So I came to the conclusion that since shootings are increasing we may as well find enjoyment in our work, and what we eat and drink for they are provisions from God. And some stray bullet can take it all away in a fash.
Now off to pray some more for our country.
