[Re]New Things In My Life
Since I posted Isaiah 43:19 recently, I decided to share some new things and some things I am renewing in my life.
To Sleep or Not To Sleep
The biggest “new thing” in my life is a messed up sleep schedule. I had a terrible time trying to sleep this week. My body and brain will not relax after work so I toss and turn in bed. After getting off work late Wednesday night, I tried in vain to sleep. So I got up and stayed up till 2 a.m. Thursday morning. Then I went to bed and slept until 10 a.m. Thursday morning. I even slept through a thunderstorm. It was the best sleep of the week.
In order to help facilitate the ability to sleep, I will be brewing a cup of chamomile tea during my second break at 8 p.m. on work nights. Hopefully the tea will help. Sleep is very, very precious to me and without my 8 hours I am very crabby. If you see a woman at the grocery store with a cart full of chamomile tea, you know it’s me.
Rediscovering The Lost Art of Makeup
With having to be at work early in the morning, I never put on make up other than a bold lipstick. But since my old supervisor did meetings on video I decided to put on the war paint on team meeting days.
Now with a few more hours in the morning, I can get back into putting on some makeup every day. Most of the makeup I have should probably be thrown out as some of it is at least 2 years old. As long as my makeup does not smell, then I keep it.
YouVersion Bible App Plans
I’ve been using YouVersion Bible app on my phone for different Bible plans. In the past couple months I have completed:
- Reflecting God’s Image: 10-Day Devotional with Jen Wilkin
- How to Study the Bible: A 5-Day Plan with Jen Wilkin
- Making Time to Rest (created and published by YouVersion).
- Delighting in God’s Law: A 10 Day Video Devotional With Jen Wilkin.
- Finding The Good Life by Nancy Guthrie.
I highly recommend these plans and will be revisiting the How to Study the Bible plan until it becomes second nature.
YouTube Binge Watching
Author and Pastor Paul David Tripp’s channel is what I’ve been binge watching. I still watch some videos and livestreams on the prepper channel’s but that is going to go away due to scheduling conflicts. Paul Tripp’s channel is good, solid, Biblical teaching.
I used to do Sudoku but got away from it for some reason. When I picked up some crossword puzzle books for Mom recently, I decided to get a Sudoku magazine.
I’ve enjoyed doing Sudoku again. Since my job involves a lot of logic and investigation, Sudoku is good for me. Hmm…since it is a good brain game, maybe we out to send a lot of books to Washington D.C. I’m sure the politicians need something to do on their summer vacation.
Those are some of the new and not so new things happening in my life right now. As I continue adapting to this new work schedule God as brought me, more new things are bound to happen.
Well since it is 6:11 a.m., I am going to go back to bed and catch another hour or two of sleep before grocery shopping.
Have a joy-filled day.
