I Believe In You

Dear Holy Spirit – I. Believe. In. You.

This a continuation of the I. Believe. In. You. series. Prior posts: God, Jesus,Readers, Santa, and American Worker.

I thought this post was published years ago but it was not. So on this occasion of Pentacost 2020 – (May 31st) It is only appropriate this post finally be published.

When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:1-4

(ESV)

Dear Holy Spirit,

I. Believe. In. You.

I believe in Your work throughout the Bible.

I believe You are a person but have another form of existence other than matter.

I believe You are our advocate and praying for us when we do not have the words to pray.

I believe You work boldly, mightily and powerfully in our lives either through a gentle voice whispering “Widow’s Website” or whipping through our lives like a white tornado.

I believe You were at work in the lives of the men and women who had a role in the founding of this country. From Reverend Johnathan Mayhew’s 1750 sermon based on Romans 13 justifying the right of rebellion against tyrants, to the American Revolution, to the writing of the Constitution and the writing of the Declaration of Independence, and so on through out every event in our history.

I believe You can come today like a mighty rushing wind and descend upon We the People just as you descended upon the disciples in the upper room thousands of years ago.

I pray You do that today and come into people’s hearts that are protesting and rioting. Come into the hearts of police officers, mayors and governors. Come into them so mightily and powerfully that they know it is You and they kneel in thanksgiving.

Thank You Holy Spirit for the work you will do in the hearts of We the People today and every day.

Amen!
