Weekend Wisdom For Us Non Carrot Lovers

Welcome to the first week in January. Here is a little serious wisdom and a little funny wisdom to kick of the first weekend of the new year.

One of my favorite Weekend Wisdom resources is QuoteGarden.com. It is from their category January that I found these wonderful quotes about New Years and carrots.  I especially love the one about carrots, the only proper use for this vegetable is an ingredient in cake.

We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives… not looking for flaws, but for potential. ~Ellen Goodman

Plant carrots in January and you’ll never have to eat carrots. ~Gardening Saying

There are two seasonal diversions that can ease the bite of any winter. One is the January thaw. The other is the seed catalogues. ~Hal Borland (1900–1978)

This is true – I got my Burpee catalog in December. Something colorful and bright among the cold and dreariness of winter.
