No two job searches are the same. People are different so job searching will be different. People with a highly specialized field will most likely land a job faster.
Then there are people like me who have no specialized experience but have seized the opportunity to learn various fields. While doing so allowed me to develop different skills, it also can be interpreted as a lack of “focus.” I never had a clear game plan for my career.
It will take me longer to land than someone else. Trust me, if I could go back in time my college education would be very different.
The worst thing I can do is to compare my career with someone else’s. It is very, very difficult not to compare. As Theodore Roosevelt said:
“Comparison is the thief of joy.”
Whether in career, house, clothing, car or any area of life, comparison is a thief. It is why I have cleaned up my Facebook feed and only see people that do not live a lifestyle of bragging and boasting about their bucket list accomplishments. (There will be a post dealing with bucket lists in the future.)
Here are some Bible verses for you and me to keep in mind the temptation strikes to compare job search and careers.
4 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. 5 For each will have to bear his own load.

Thankful for the days I succeed in not comparing my life, career and/or job search with anyone else.
