Hooking up with Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. The word is DANCE!
Dance means different things to different people.
For my sister is means ballet, specifically Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, as she worked behind the scenes at the local ballet company’s production when she was a teenager. Yes, by the time the production ended she was sick of the music. I believe even today anything nutcracker related gives her nausea.
For me dance means disco, specifically BeeGees. I burned up the dance floor at several local discos during college. There was one on campus and one off campus.
However, for me dancing now also means worship. I recently worshiped at a Messianic Jewish Temple, where they danced beautifully during the service, some even danced barefoot.
Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.
Psalm 149:3
It was a wonderful service and we even sang 3 songs that are sung at the church I normally attend.
Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might,
2nd Samuel 6:14
So don’t just make a joyful noise unto the Lord but get on your saddle shoes, stilettos, or wingtips and dance before the Lord with all your might! The Rabbi even pointed out last week that dancing is not just for women.
So dance like no one is watching and if they are, they are jealous that you are willing to get out there and dance with all your might.
Coming tomorrow – A 5 part series about a story and thoughts I had after reading an article sent to me by a dear friend.
