4th of July Wisdom: Raising Our Voices In A Solemn Prayer

I knew I wanted Kate Smith singing God Bless America for today’s post, so I searched YouTube. What I found was this gem of a clip from the movie, This Is The Army, an adaptation of a stage musical. This clip from the film even includes an appearance by a future president.

Enjoy this clip and have a safe and joy filled 4th of July, but remember at some point to raise your voice in solemn (characterised by deep sincerity) prayer.

God Bless America!

“God Bless America”
Written by Irving Berlin

While the storm clouds gather
Far across the sea
Let us swear allegiance
To a land that’s free
Let us all be grateful
For a land so fair
As we raise our voices
In a solemn prayer

God bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her,
Through the night with the light from above.

From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam,
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
