Last week was week 1 of my journey through the Faithful Finish Lines 7 week program.
My seasonal call center job ended last Monday and since I am rehabbing the pulled muscle behind my left knee, last week was all about rest. Yes, I managed to get more sleep but there was plenty of job search activity going on via computer as I rested in bed. The knee is healing as fast as God wants it too which is not the same as how fast I want it to heal. But then God’s plans usually differ from mine.
Small Change
Besides rest, I made some small changes the first being – no Pepsi! Working in a high volume inbound call center is mentally and physically draining, so by the time 3 p.m. rolled around, I needed a boost to get me through the rest of the day. Enter Pepsi. An afternoon drink gave me what I needed to quit yawning and finish out the day.
Now that I am home, cucumber water has replaced Pepsi. I fill my 24 oz Contigo water bottle with ice and 2 or 3 thin slices of cucumber and add water. It is very refreshing even in cold weather.
Since making this change, I felt slimmer by the end of the week. I also felt and looked more rested by weeks end.
Journal
Last week participants were challenged to keep a food journal. Well, mine revealed what I have known for a long time – I am sweet, um… I mean I am a sweets eater. It is an inherited trait. I also have a think for easy food. It is very hard to have the desire to cook when it is just me so enter fast food or some type of processed food..
Extra Movement
We were also challenged to get extra movement in our first week. I got mine walking around my cousin’s cheese house located in the heart of Amish country. Since they are 2 hours away and winter weather has arrived, I do not anticipate making another trip down until Spring, unless, God gives us some sunny, dry and 60 degree weather.
Chat
Our first weekly Facebook chat took place on Sunday. It was great to meet Sara and the rest of the participants. They are excellent support and accountability partners. There is also a lot of interaction between group members on Facebook during the week.
Bring On Week 2
This week we set a fitness goal. I originally said I was going to easily walk a mile. Well, since I am still strengthening the knee muscle that goal might be too aggressive. So I will do an obstacle course instead. More on that and the 2 challenges I faced this week next Thursday.
Ooopppsss – I forgot this last week: *Disclaimer: I was given free access to the Faithful Finish Lines program with the promise of blogging about my experience. I am not receiving payment of any other form and the opinions are mine alone.
You are off to a great start. You’ve taken some wonderful steps forward, both physically and emotionally. So glad to have you on the journey with us!
Thanks Sara. I am excited to be on this journey with everyone.
