There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.
Washington Irving
It is now 2 weeks until Christmas Day. A day you may be dreading because while you are with family or friends crying is not acceptable – or so you think.
Christmas Day 2008
I got most of my crying out of the way in the morning because I was not with Joe’s family till mid-afternoon. I believe there were a few tears shed that afternoon but my memory of Christmas day is hazy. A hazy memory is good because most of 2008 is a blur. I just remember bits and pieces here and there.
If I remember correctly, most of my tears and theirs came when I gave each family member gift bags containing several of Joe’s favorite movies. The movies I gave them where some of his favorites and a way for them to the type of person their brother and uncle was.
Overall Christmas 2008 was a wonderful day because family was together and the shedding of tears was acceptable.
One Of God’s Many Gifts
Beside Jesus, God gave us the gift of tears. He knows crying is healthy because it washes away your grief and makes you feel better as you release some of your sadness.
Christmas Day 2013
So if laughter, some happy memory of your loved one or just the fact it is Christmas Day makes you cry, let your tears of unspeakable love flow.
