I received a card from Dad’s cousin and his wife last year which had the following verse on it.
What is Christmas?
It is tenderness for the past,
courage for the present,
hope for the future.
It is a fervent wish
That every cup
may overflow
with blessings
rich and eternal,
And that every path
May lead to peace.
Agnes M. Pharo
Those words express our wish for you this lovely Christmas morn.
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:10-11
The following is the last stanza of a poem by Christina Rossetti entitled “A Christmas Carol.” I recited it one Christmas either at church or in the Kindergarten play. You can read the entire poem at RPMMinistries.org May this be your gift to Jesus today and every day.
What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,
If I were a Wise Man
I would do my part,—
Yet what I can I give Him,
Give my heart.
