Welcome To Gingerbread Land!

 JoyReturns 2012 Christmas Design Unveiling

Of course this is nothing new  if you were visiting the site last night between 9:30 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. Eastern Time, you saw various incarnations while I was playing around.

I thought I had it all figured out and then nothing worked the way I wanted it until 12:15 a..m. this morning. Staying up this late reminds me of my college days.

Why Gingerbread?

I believe it was Christmas 1999 when Joe’s brother from Florida and his wife sent us a gingerbread house from Party Lite candles.  Then a year or two later I found some more Party Lite gingerbread houses and bought them to create a village.  So every year I put them out, except for Christmas 2008 and 2009, and surround them with fake snow and stuff some inside the chimney’s to make it look like smoke.  I do not light tea lights in houses.

They are now sitting on the cedar chest in a corner of the living room and there they will stay till January 1st.

Creating my gingerbread village brings me joy every year.  So this year I decided to decorate the blog with gingerbread.

That picture is of the two smaller houses I bought and the color of  “JoyReturns” is suppose to represent gingerbread.

Pictures, Pictures and More Pictures

I have 100 pictures on my computer of the gingerbread houses from various angles and spaced apart and close together.  I finally hit on the right one that would not interfere with the blog title.  Well almost.  The tagline “Michele’s Good, Bad, Ugly and Joyous Adventures Through Widowhood and Beyond” is gone until after the first of the year.  It just did not fit with any of the 100 pictures.

Hopefully you get as much joy out of this design as I do.  Well now off to bed or as my Dad use to say, “Think I’ll go watch the inside of my eyelids.”

Coming Tomorrow –  a gift idea for making an impact.
