Take Up, Don’t Give Up

Make this Lenten season different.  Take up something instead of giving up something.

It must be something that draws you closer to God.

For example, read daily devotions, read the Gospels, pray more often and make an effort to listen for His answers, take a walk and appreciate what He created or go visit shut-in’s.

The list is endless.

After all, does giving up chocolate, caffeine or anything else really bring you closer to God?

Can the suffering you endure during lent really compare with what Jesus endured as he took our place on the cross?

Why give up which is negative when you can take up which is positive?
