God And Your Dreams

The past few days I have been reading “Reach Beyond Your Grasp, Embracing Dreams That Reflect God’s Best for You- And Achieving Them” by M. Blaine Smith because I have been in a career funk the past couple of weeks.  I decided to purchase it after receiving an email from Nehemiah Notes with a link attached.   It sounded like the perfect thing to cure my funk.

Well I have not read the whole book yet.  I am only on page 48 and there is a lot of yellow hi-liter and notes in the margins.

What Christians Believe

So much of the time Christians believe we should just have faith that our life is the way God wanted it and any desire to reach for the stars is not what He wants.

However, God has given each of us unique skills and gifts.  Mr. Smith states:

“We honor him by coming to understand the gifts and interests he has given us, then establishing significant dreams based upon them.  And, apart from compelling evidence that he wants us to abandon any of them, we honor him by continuing to hope eagerly that he’ll bring them to pass.”

Because we have hope we then take action upon that hope.

“We exercise greater faith by taking initiative, than by merely ‘accepting reality’ and sitting still.”

Old Saying

There is an old saying “If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.”  That phrase is usually uttered when someone experiences a negative life event.  Well… If God can bring you through bad situations, don’t you think He can help you make your dreams come true?

So go ahead, take either a baby or gigantic step towards your dream today, knowing God is with you.

The first step is getting Mr. Smith’s book.
