My Favorite Hymn

This Sunday, I thought I would share my favorite hymn with you.  It was also my father’s favorite but I did not find that out until after he passed.   It also was the hymn played when my bridesmaids walked down the aisle.

Even as a child I found joy in this hymn.  I believe because it is so powerful, passionate and sung with a lot of gusto.  I have always enjoyed music with guts over sing-songy, wishy-washy, winey songs such as “Michelle”, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart.”

Enjoy!

Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!

Early in the morning, our song shall rise to thee;

Holy, Holy, Holy, Merciful and mighty!

God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, Holy, Holy!  All the saints adore thee!

Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;

Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,

Who wert and art, and evermore shalt be.

Holy, Holy, Holy!  All the saints adore thee,

Through the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,

Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,

Perfect in power, in love and purity.

Holy, Holy, Holy!  Lord God Almighty!

All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea;

Holy, Holy, Holy!  Merciful and mighty!

God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
